TRIO-SSS is a program designed to help students achieve their academic goals at SVSU
The TRIO-SSS Program provides academic support and services to admitted and enrolled students at Saginaw Valley State University with varying needs. The TRIO-SSS program is a federally funded program through the Department of Education and free to all eligible students. Eligible students will receive holistic support through services such as priority course registration, mentorship, tutoring, financial literacy, counseling, and more. The purpose of TRIO SSS is to increase the rates of academic achievement, retention, and graduation among historically underrepresented students.

Gain all the benefits of being in TRIO Student Support Services by applying today! As an active participant you will have access to an advisor, peer mentors, graduate school visits, cultural immersion, community engagement, and much more. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Are you eligible for TRIO-SSS?
Admitted and enrolled SVSU students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents are eligible to participate in TRIO-SSS if they are also:
- A first-generation college student (you are considered “first-generation” if neither of your parents graduated from a 4-year university)
- From a household with eligible low-income (as set by the U.S. Department of Education Federal TRIO Programs Current-Year Low-Income Levels chart)
- A student with a documented disability
How TRIO-SSS can benefit you
