Description of Endorsement: |
The General Elementary (ZG) endorsement is available for secondary-level certified teachers who wish to become certified to teach all-subjects in grades Kindergarten-5, and all subjects in grades Kindergarten-8, in a self-contained classroom. The College of Education will recommend teachers for the General Elementary endorsement upon successful completion of all required coursework and taking and passing the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) Elementary Education test. Some of the required 500-level courses may be used toward the Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) Elementary Classroom Teaching graduate program. All coursework toward a graduate degree must be completed within a seven year period. |

To avoid taking courses not needed, students are encouraged to first meet with a College of Education Certification Advisor to review undergraduate coursework and determine a plan of study. |
Upon completion of all program requirements, students must submit a completed endorsement application on the MOECS website at http://www.michigan.gov/moecs to add this endorsement to their teaching certificate.
