Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Education Program

SVSU offers a traditional and accelerated route to teacher certification in elementary and secondary education for individuals who already have a bachelor's degree or higher and want to obtain their standard teaching certificate to teach in Michigan. Admission to these programs is coordinated through the Office of Admissions & Certification in the College of Education.

If you are considering a career in teaching, we ask that you first attend a Teacher Certification Information Session to learn about our accelerated certification program at SVSU and the requirements to become a certified teacher in Michigan. Discussion at the information session will also touch on high demand positions within education and what the next steps are to begin your teacher preparation program at SVSU.

Individuals interested in joining the 2025-2026 ACR cohort must have all admission requirements complete by June 2, 2025.
