Spring/Summer 2019 Exhibitions

May 20th - June 21st, 2019

This exhibition features watercolor paintings by Ju-Yu ‘Louise’ Chen, an artist and educator living in the Great Lakes Bay Region. Her work depicts profound life experiences using a variety of bird species and highlighting their relationship to their environments. She received her B.A. from the National Taiwan Normal University and her M.A. from Northwestern State University of Louisiana. Accompanying Chen’s paintings are photographs from her husband Lih-Long Chu who documents bird species from across the United States for Chen. Photographs from reception and demonstration link.

July 8th - August 9th, 2019

This two-person exhibition features work based on finding joy in the everyday world. Deborah Huntley uses photography to frame her surroundings and seek the interesting or beautiful. Matthew Krease uses the environment as a stage for his whimsical characters, spreading kindness and positivity. Huntley is SVSU’s Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs and Krease is SVSU’s Graphics Center Assistant Manager.
