Business Excellence Centers - Scott L. Carmona College of Business

The Business Excellence Centers (BEC) provide training, consulting, and research services to the Michigan business community. The BEC helps entrepreneurs and leaders with business creation, expansion and growth, and promote the economic wellbeing of our region. The BEC helps businesses identify and successfully implement best practices for the situations they face. The BEC are committed to the success of Michigan businesses – building resilience, resourcefulness, innovativeness, and competitiveness.

Stevens Center for Family Business

Family-owned businesses are the bedrock of the American economy.  The Stevens Center for Family Business (SCFB) fosters the continued growth and sustenance of family-owned businesses in the region and within the state through education, collaboration and networking.  Helping family members and future generations navigate the tides of change.

Dow Entrepreneurship Institute

The Dow Entrepreneurship Institute stimulates the creation of new business ventures, serves as a resource for research activities aimed at business innovation, and provides internship opportunities benefiting both area businesses and student entrepreneurs.  While based in the College of Business & Management, the Institute takes an interdisciplinary focus, reaching out to students in each of the University’s five colleges. 

Independent Testing Laboratory

The Independent Testing Laboratory (ITL), housed within SVSU's College of Science, Engineering and Technology, the primary function is to provide regional business and industry with access to the latest laboratory equipment necessary to improve existing products and bring new products to market through quality analytical services and technical support.  The lab is ISO 17025 Certified. It has capabilities for mechanical, chemical and biological testing and uses the American Society of Testing Materials test procedures.

Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center

Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center - Northeast (MMTC-NE) - the state's Manufacturing Extension Partnership for the Northeast region that supports over 500 manufacturing companies assists area manufacturers to achieve sustained profitability through training and support.

Small Business Development Center

The Michigan Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provides no-cost consulting, training, market research, and technology commercialization services to assist Michigan businesses to launch, grow, transition and innovate. Assistance includes business plans, marketing plans, applying for financing, budgeting, hiring, business forms, feasibility, and strategic planning.
