LEVEL UP TAKEAWAYS

Jesica Poulos
MS Math Teacher

When students are offered limited choices, it is more likely to have positive results versus having a power struggle. I am working on making sure when students become difficult or disruptive in the classroom to offer them choices instead of arguing. I truly appreciate the opportunity to learn more about behavior management to further my own understanding. This course has helped me take my management skills to the next level. Thank you!

Paraprofessional

I learned to listen more when it comes to my students and to be there for them in every aspect, especially with those that display behavioral issues. I learned to be calmer and adjust my tone voice softer when speaking to them. I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity. I'm a single mother of 3 daughters who didn’t complete college due to financial hardships.  When this opportunity arose, I took it and ran with it. I was scared at first. I tried to talk myself out of it because I assumed it was going to be hard to do with my current responsibilities. By completing this course, I feel like I have accomplished something in life other than raising 3 beautiful and intelligent daughters (which is my biggest accomplishment of all). So again, I am very grateful for this opportunity.

Larilyn Burdess
Curriculum Coach

As an instructional coach, the course gave me activities through assignments that I can have my teachers who are struggling with classroom management focus on with their classrooms. I am extremely grateful to SUPO for providing a full scholarship to me. It allowed me to take a very informative course online at my pace and not require me to come up with the cost. Not having to pay for the course out of my pocket allowed me to take the course NOW and not later when I have the extra money.  It is very appreciative when professional development is paid for so that it is not more money to further educate me in my profession.  Much thanks and appreciation go to the SUPO team for all they do and provide for educators.

Tammy Henderson
1st Grade Teacher

I learned new ways of setting boundaries that are less confrontational. This led to less power struggles and helped with the overall atmosphere of my class. I would like to thank you for the opportunity to grow and learn helpful skills.

Monica Brown
4th Grade Teacher

I learned that giving praise can cause children to focus on pleasing people. When we can give children choices, we are teaching children that they are in control of and responsible for their own behavior. Lastly, I learned that the secret to effective discipline is realizing that you cannot make a child do anything. Thank you so much for the scholarship and the class itself. I am a late bloomer in my education and professional growth and this class helped tremendously. God Bless!!
