Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow STEM Scholars Network

Supported by a grant from The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation, the STEM Scholars Network is designed to increase learning in the STEM fields at the middle school, high school and college levels, particularly within the Great Lakes Bay Region. SVSU l uses these funds to support summer camps for middle school and high school students and to sponsor undergraduate research projects by SVSU students. Two summer camp programs that target middle school students who are struggling academically, and high school summer camps lead by SVSU faculty. High school camps are centered around particular “hot topic” themes, encouraging these students to pursue college degrees.

High School Programs

Middle School Programs

The Saginaw Valley State University Summer STEM Opportunities Camp is a 4-week long day camp for middle school students who can benefit from a challenging, program of extracurricular math study. We provide daily activities designed to promote both fundamental math skills and exposure to more advanced, challenging ideas that highlight the uplifting, empowering, and enriching nature of mathematics. 

Undergraduate Research Program

UGRP supports the university’s value in academic exploration and achievement by providing opportunities for our undergraduate students to participate in hands on research experiences in a variety of unique and meaningful ways. The program funds four distinct research grants including: UGRP faculty-led grant, UGRP student-led grant, UGRP student-travel grant, and UGRP mini student-led grant.
