The Social Work undergraduate degree program prepares students with introductions to psychology, biology, sociology, political science and economics. The courses offered insight into diverse populations and community programs with faculty members that have expertise in substance use, foster care and adoption, gerontology, LGBT youth and families, community organizing, research and the law. Learning beyond the classroom is emphasized throughout the program, culminating in a field experience designed to prepare students for professional social work practice or future graduate studies. Graduates of the BSW program at SVSU are eligible to apply for a limited bachelor of social work license with the State of Michigan.
