Application and Qualifications for the Garber Cardinal Business Edge Program

The Scott L. Carmona College of Business is recruiting students in their first semester at SVSU who display strong academic potential, have some prior leadership experience, and have indicated an interest in majoring in business to apply for admission to the Garber Cardinal Business Edge (GCBE) leadership development program.

Applicants complete an application package that includes a brief essay explaining why they are interested in the GCBE program; a description of the activities they have completed outside the classroom that have helped to develop their leadership potential; and a description of what they will bring to the GCBE program and why they are a good fit for the program.

A task force commissioned by the GCBE Oversight Committee reviews applications and invites selected candidates to participate in the program. To encourage early commitments to the Scott L. Carmona College of Business, a rolling admissions process is used.

To qualify for the GCBE leadership development program you must:

• Be in your first semester as a freshman at SVSU enrolled in the Scott L. Carmona College of Business
• Have a minimum 3.2 cumulative high school GPA and a minimum 24 ACT composite score or 1160 SAT composite score, or be eligible for SVSU's President's Award
