Public Health (Combined BS/MPH)

The Public Health degree has two options: (1) the traditional BS degree and (2) the combined BS/MPH degree. The BS/MPH program
is created for undergraduate Public Health Students with an interest in pursuing an MPH degree. The combined program allows
students to earn a BS in Public health and an MPH degree. Students admitted into the combined degree program will count 12
credits of graduate credits towards their undergraduate degree requirements.

Students in the combined BS/MPH program will take:

HS 500 Introduction to Public Health in place of HS 340 Principles of Public Health
HS 520 Public Health Grant & Proposal Writing in place of RPW 336 Grant seeking & Proposal Writing or RPW 440 Writing for Public Purposes
HS 610 Cultural Competency in Public Health in place of HS 336 Cultural Competence for Healthcare Professionals
HS 640 Epidemiology instead of HS 450 Epidemiology
In order to be admitted into the combined BS/MPH degree, students must be a current Public Health undergraduate major and have completed at least 24 credits in the undergraduate Public Health major coursework.

Students interested in the combined BS/MPH program should contact Meghan Baruth (mbaruth@svsu.edu) or Christine Noller (cnoller@svsu.edu) for additional information and for advising.
