‌"Students should pursue a degree in Political Science for both philosophical and practical reasons. Aristotle, one of the ‌‌most famous political philosophers was entirely right when he argued that politics was at the heart of almost all human endeavors. This philosophical understanding is enormously helpful in negotiating the politics of our everyday lives.  Students should become Political Science major at SVSU for practical reasons, however, most important is that they are well prepared for some of the best law schools and graduate programs in the country. Since I have been a professor at SVSU our students have been admitted to graduate programs the University of Michigan, Baylor University, the University of Massachusetts at Amerhearst, and Michigan State to name a few.“

Dr. Donahue teaches such classes as Gender and Politics; State and Local Government; Public Policy; and Statistics. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Dr. Donahue is an activist and a researcher in her field.  Her research interests at the moment are focused on the politics of zoos.

Dr. Donahue has co-authored two books with Dr. Erik Trump (pictured together), The Politics of Zoos: Exotic Animals and Their Protectors and Political Animals: Public Art in American Zoos and Aquariums.  Dr. Donahue has also published articles in books and scholarly journals on the topic of gender and politics.

Dr. Donahue earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and her Ph.D. from Boston College.
