Orientation Leaders are fun, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and down-to-earth students who are here to be your first connection to the SVSU campus community! Your start to campus life goes through them - they are the guides, session facilitators, and fun-starters who make SOAR happen.

Interested in Becoming an Orientation Leader?
We are always looking for enthusiastic Cardinals beaming with Red Pride to serve as Orientation Leaders! As an Orientation Leader, you'll be able to grow alongside like-minded individuals and get paid to show off your love for SVSU. Yes, this is a PAID position on campus. Applications go live on Handshake in late January and close in late February, every year.

Evaluations and First Year Student Assessment
It is a goal of Orientation Programs to reach continuous improvement and fit the needs of our current and incoming students. For this reason, we assess the needs of our incoming students, pre and post-SOAR. These assessments come in the form of anonymous surveys sent before and immediately after orientation.
Our Pre-SOAR Survey, "Tell Us About Yourself!", combines common questions on academics, previous experiences, involvement, expectations, and concerns with questions from the student’s specific college of enrollment. These questions were developed by the Office of Orientation programs with the intention to share across SVSU offices as we aim to enhance our operations and the student experience.
