What do we do?

The Governmental and Community Affairs team advocates for the university's interests and supporting the broader community. Our team works closely with legislators in Lansing and Washington, D.C. to pursue SVSU's policy goals, with a focus on improving college access and attainment in Michigan. 

Beyond legislative advocacy, our office manages SVSU's community outreach efforts, attending different community events. Additionally, the community affairs team has a range of responsibilities, including cultivating relationships with in the Great Lakes Bay Region.

Our team also plays a vital role in supporting important community events and while also working to keep SVSU affordable for students. Through these diverse efforts, the Governmental and Community Affairs office serves as a crucial bridge between SVSU and the surrounding communities, advocating for the university's interests and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships.
