The Nursing Simulation Center at Saginaw Valley State University has been granted reaccreditation from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) and the Council for Accreditation of Healthcare Simulation Programs, recognizing the center’s commitment to simulation best practices and educational excellence. This reaccreditation is valid through December 31, 2029.
In the Nursing Simulation Center at Saginaw Valley State University, students in the university’s nursing program engage in experiential learning that helps develop their skills and reinforces lecture content. Research correlates simulation experiences with positive student learning outcomes.
The rigorous accreditation process involved continuous tracking and data collection and extensive documentation, as well as a thorough site visit. During this visit, two accreditors from different areas of the United States conducted a comprehensive evaluation, meeting with stakeholders including simulation educators and actors, student mentors, coordinators, faculty, students and university administration. The accreditors observed live simulations and inspected the entire facility to verify the evidence presented in the reaccreditation application.
By maintaining accreditation, the Simulation Center validates its commitment to educational excellence and ensures it continues to provide evidence-based, standardized learning experiences that bridge the gap between classroom theory and clinical practice. This reaccreditation, built on the initial accreditation from December 2019, represents an ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards in healthcare simulation education.
