Graduates of Saginaw Valley State University’s nursing program continue to stand out, achieving a 98.55% first-time pass rate on the NCLEX®, the national licensure exam in 2024. Nurses must pass this exam to become licensed and enter the nursing profession. NCLEX reports pass rates at the end of every quarter throughout the year. Through December 31, 136 Saginaw Valley State University nursing students passed the NCLEX-RN test, demonstrating their readiness to work.

“SVSU is proud of our students and graduates, who work diligently to prepare to provide exceptional patient care,” said Beth Roe, SVSU professor of nursing and nursing program director. “This standout NCLEX pass rate is evidence that our robust academic program, which includes experiential learning in our Nursing Simulation Center and with health care agencies in the community, prepares our students to be successful on the licensure exam and to be practice-ready.”

The 2024 first-time pass rate on the NCLEX-RN in Michigan was just shy of 92%, while the national rate was slightly over 91%.

Since its inception, SVSU’s undergraduate nursing program has maintained high standards of instruction and clinical preparation. The Nursing Simulation Center at SVSU recently earned reaccreditation from the Society of Simulation in Healthcare, recognizing the center’s commitment to simulation best practices and educational excellence. Research shows that simulation is a valuable form of practical learning that positively impacts nursing education.

In addition to the traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, SVSU’s Department of Nursing offers an RN to BSN track for nurses who seek to further their education and an ADN to BSN concurrent option for students enrolled in associate degree nursing programs at partnering community colleges. The university also offers a Master of Science in Nursing, a Doctor of Nursing Practice and post-graduate certificates.
