Saginaw Valley State University has created a new graduate certificate program in strategic organizational communication. The program begins in the fall 2024 semester.
Designed for working professionals, this certificate program equips students with the skills to navigate organizational changes effectively and provides an understanding of the role of new media to promote and lead their organization.
“Business and government leaders need an understanding of strategic communication and the role of new media as related to organizational change,” said David Schneider, professor of communication at SVSU. “This program will prepare students to lead strategic organizational change in the era of new media, and the certificate will give them a professional edge to advance in their current careers by opening an arena of new opportunities.”
The strategic organizational communication program draws upon the expertise of faculty who taught in the communication and media administration master’s degree program that SVSU offered previously.
The certificate program consists of four courses that can be completed within two semesters (fall and winter), blending in-person classes with asynchronous online learning, making it ideal for working professionals. The in-person classes will be held on Wednesday nights from 7-10 p.m.
Applications for the inaugural cohort are now open. For more information about the graduate certificate program in strategic organizational communication, including admission requirements and course details, please visit svsu.edu/strategicorganizationalcommunicationcertificate/.
SVSU will hold two virtual information sessions: Monday, July 22, 7-8 p.m., and Monday, July 29, 7-8 p.m. These sessions are free, but registration is required.
