Delta College and Saginaw Valley State University have entered into a new partnership agreement that will streamline pathways for Delta students to complete an associate’s degree and then transfer to Saginaw Valley State University to complete their bachelor’s degree.
Michael Gavin, president of Delta College, and George Grant Jr, president of Saginaw Valley State University, signed a new cooperative partnership agreement Thursday, Aug. 8 to enhance degree attainment at both institutions.
“As part of Delta College’s strategic plan, The Way Forward, Delta is focused on ensuring students complete their degree and succeed after graduation,” said Gavin. “Helping our graduates obtain a bachelor’s without losing credits, time or money, removes the barriers that often prevent students from achieving their goals.”
“SVSU welcomes more transfer students from Delta College than any other institution, and this signing will only serve to increase those opportunities for students, as we collaborate to provide high-quality postsecondary education for our community,” said George Grant Jr, SVSU president.
Under the agreement, SVSU and Delta College will streamline transfer student pathways for students at Delta College transferring to complete a bachelor’s degree at SVSU.
Delta College and SVSU will also enhance their existing reverse transfer process for students who have transferred to SVSU prior to associate degree attainment, by automatically sending completed credits back to Delta College to evaluate for possible associate degree completion.
