Saginaw Valley State University wants to take you out to the ball game . . . and a movie. As a farewell to summer, the university invites the community to a night of entertainment at Dow Diamond on Thursday, September 28. Featuring an exciting exhibition ball game and a movie, the event is free and open to the public.
SVSU Night at Dow Diamond begins at 4 p.m. with the SVSU Cardinals taking on the Grand Valley State University Lakers in an exhibition baseball game in the state-of-the-art facility. With a 31-foot x 80-foot LED video board, there isn’t a bad seat in the house. Giveaways throughout the game will add to the fun.
Following the game, the evening continues with a screening of “A League of Their Own.” The 1992 film directed by Penny Marshall and starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis and Madonna, among others, is a fictionalized account of the founding of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League during World War II.
To make the evening even better, SVSU will be giving concessions vouchers to the first 250 guests through the gate.
"We're so pleased to partner with Dow Diamond to offer community members a great opportunity to see a college ball game and enjoy a family-friendly movie in this state-of-the-art facility right here in the Great Lakes Bay Region."
