Service through Music Education!
Excellent professors. Talented college students. Regional high school students and their teachers looking for ways to enhance their love of music. Why not create opportunities to bring the two together? That is why the Department of Music at SVSU offers several outreach opportunities to area schools and high school students.
Clinics
As part of the Department of Music's outreach, it offers annual clinics including:
- The Choral Clinic
- The Jazz Clinic
- The Day of Percussion
- Clarinet Day
- Concert Band Pre-Festival
- SVSU Band Day
These opportunities are geared towards high school students and ensembles.

Valley Steel
Valley Steel is an organization that includes both students and community members. Valley Steel was founded in 2013 and SVSU is one of only a handful of universities in Michigan to have a steel band.
