Important Facts about Math Placement @ SVSU

• Incoming students are placed in Math classes based on their SAT Math sub-score.
• Students can improve their placement by taking the mathematics placement test up to two times
  • Students are charged a $10.00 to take the test a second time
  • Students must wait 30 days between their testing sessions.
• Students with no Math sub-score who do not take the placement test will be placed into Math 081 (pre-algebra)
• NOTE:  Tests will NOT be administered in the time period between the second day of classes (August 27, 2024) and the end of the second week of classes in the Fall and Winter Semesters (Fall Semester: August 27 to September 8, 2024)
  • Students are not be able to register for a mathematics class unless the appropriate placement has been achieved by the second day of classes. This rule will be strictly enforced, so please plan accordingly.
