During a pandemic, learning all you need to know about transitioning from high school to college can be much more challenging. SVSU has developed a series of podcasts that guide you through the essential steps of "How to College". SVSU wants to make sure that you have all of the help you need to make the transition to college. Each step is listed below with helpful links to carry out the actions that will help you find the right fit at SVSU. This is what we do... Provide opportunity, support you in every way, and celebrate your success.

Step 2: How to Apply

  • A priority deadline for the Fall semester is coming up on December 1st! (Make sure you COMPLETE the application before then.)
  • Applying to SVSU is FREE!
  • Incoming Freshmen DO NOT need to have an ACT or SAT score in order to be admitted or receive scholarships.
  • There is no reason not to do it today!

Step 4: How to FAFSA

  • FAFSA forms for the Fall are available today!
  • If your economic situation has changed over the past year, DON’T PANIC! Fill out FAFSA first, and then you can work with SVSU for adjustments.

Step 5: How to Pay For College

  • Fall award letters can begin to come out during the month of December.
  • Read through them carefully! We can help you decipher any information you may not know.
  • You can sign up for a meeting with the Financial Department, or an Admissions Rep to help virtually.

Step 6: How to Commit

  • Now you know that SVSU is the right fit for you, let’s make it official.
  • S.O.A.R. and Housing registrations are the next steps for you to become a Cardinal.
