While growing up my family never really had a lot of money, so the idea of actually going to college was more of a dream than anything. I knew from a very early age that my chances of attending college were based solely on the financial help scholarships could provide. This encouraged me to work hard in school to be able to qualify for the scholarships I needed so I could further my education.

I wanted to attend SVSU after the first time I visited. I fell in love with SVSU’s beautiful campus and amazing and welcoming people, and truly felt at home here. The scholarships I receive have enabled me to attend this university, when I had never thought it possible. I am so thankful for my opportunity to be here at SVSU. I intend not to let this opportunity go to waste by doing the best that I can both in and out of the classroom.
