Saginaw Valley State University on Friday, April 21, will host its winter 2017 Science and Engineering Symposium, where the public can view the work students performed on 40 projects.

Thousands of students descended on Saginaw Valley State University April 12-15 to demonstrate determination during the FIRST Robotics state championships. It was the first time SVSU has hosted the event, which drew two alumni back to campus as coaches.

SVSU to host FIRST in Michigan statewide high school robotics competition

Saginaw Valley State University will welcome nearly 5,000 high school students from across Michigan for the statewide FIRST Robotics competition Wednesday, April 12 through Saturday, April 15. Including professional mentors and family members, an estimated 7,500 people will descend on the Great Lakes Bay Region for the competition, which is designed to inspire students to pursue careers in the STEM fields: science, technology, engineering and math.

Communications executive and alumna to address SVSU December graduates

A respected communications executive will deliver the keynote address to graduates during Commencement exercises at Saginaw Valley State University. Jan Botz, an SVSU alumna who previously served as chief communications officer for Dow Corning and as vice president of Public Affairs and Communications at the University of Notre Dame, will speak Friday, Dec, 16 at 7:30 p.m. and again Saturday, Dec. 17 at 11 a.m. in O'Neill Arena.

Saginaw Valley State University will host students from four local elementary classrooms Friday, Dec. 2 for an Hour of Code program. The event is part of a national initiative to increase diversity in computer science as well as to introduce coding to students at a young age.
