Global awareness and international understanding of healthcare around the world enhances patient care and self awareness. SVSU students have joined faculty-led programs to several sites in Africa, Australia, Cambodia, China, Costa Rica, England, India, Indonesia, Senegal, and Vietnam. Regardless of major, any SVSU student may apply for any study abroad opportunity. Students learn about cultural practices, ideas about health, nursing education, local healthcare practices, international social work, human services, and social work in education. They develop an appreciation for differences in culture and social systems around the world. Students participating in study abroad are challenged to grow as people and professionals.
