SVSU research making Midland healthier, students smarter

Leaders in Midland County have always been serious about improving health outcomes for county residents. In 2014, they enlisted a serious research partner to better understand where they stand and what it would take to be a healthier county. The SVSU team of five faculty and 15 students — all undergraduates — spent nearly a year gathering, analyzing and sharing data. Those who selected SVSU for the project were seriously impressed when the team submitted its final report.

Saginaw Valley State University's David Berry, professor of kinesiology, has earned two honors for his work in the athletic training field. Berry was named the 2015 Distinguished Athletic Trainer of the Year by the Michigan Athletic Trainers Society as well as a 2015 Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association.

SVSU student wins national viral video contest for clinical lab science organization

Saginaw Valley State University student Cullen James recently won the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science’s (ASCLS) 2015 viral video contest. James, a medical laboratory science major from Birch Run, submitted a 99-second video that promotes the benefits of being a member of the society.
