Cardinal Closet
Have an upcoming interview or need to update your work wardrobe? The Cardinal Closet offers free gently used professional clothing and styling advice to all SVSU students.
- All clothing is free for students
- Students can take up to three articles of clothing with each visit
- Students own the clothes they take from the closet. No need to return them!
The Cardinal Closet is located on the second floor of Wickes Hall (W268) near the Brown Concourse and across from the Career Services office.

Dress for Success
- Find a comfortable pair of dress shoes
- When it comes to jewelry, stick with quality over quantity
- Keep makeup natural and hair groomed
- Avoid heavy cologne and perfume
- No jeans, yoga pants or leggings
- Align tattoos and piercings to company standards
- Make sure clothing fits properly
- When in doubt, stick with dark, neutral colors
- Bring a pad-folio to write down questions and notes
Support the Cardinal Closet
If you would like to donate gently used clothing or host a donation drive with your organization please email us at careers@svsu.edu, to set up a drop-off time or learn more information about what items we are currently accepting.
The Cardinal Closet also accepts direct monetary donations. Gifts will be used to provide materials for maintaining the Cardinal Closet and obtaining new, difficult-to-stock clothing items for students and gift cards for dry cleaning services.
