SVSU team makes the case, wins moot court competition, and headed to nationals

Seven months of determined preparation for a team of two Saginaw Valley State University students resulted in winning a regional moot court competition in Chicago. The win earned teammates Connor Hughes and Madison Laskowski an invitation to the national tournament in Gulfport, Florida in January 2017.

SVSU hires Isabella County Sheriff as new police chief

Saginaw Valley State University has hired Leo Mioduszewski to serve as the school’s next police chief. He has served as the sheriff for Isabella County since 2005. Mioduszewski will replace Ron Trepkowski, who is retiring at the end of the calendar year, following 36 years with University Police, including 11 as chief.

Faculty Profile: Izabela Szymanska, assistant professor of management College of Business & Management

Born in 1980 in Poland, Izabela Szymanska witnessed the birth of the country’s Solidarity movement, and though young during its flourishing decade, was awestruck by its impact. She saw this movement transform her country’s peoples as it empowered them to take responsibility for their lives. Notable were economic changes, as citizens went from being government-supported to owning businesses.

They laugh, joke and tease each other while the photographer sets up.
