July 2024
Meet Scott Ellis, the passionate Executive Director of Great Lakes Bay Pride and proud 2014 graduate of Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU). Scott's journey with Great Lakes Bay Pride began in 2016 when he volunteered for the organization, then known as Perceptions. His event-hosting skills quickly shone through, and he was soon coordinating the annual Pride Festival. To learn more about the organization, go to https://greatlakesbaypride.org/.
In 2019, Scott's dedication and leadership earned him the role of Executive Director, making him the organization's first full-time employee. Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Scott found innovative ways to celebrate Pride Month, hosting virtual festivals in 2020 and 2021. His hard work paid off in 2022 when the in-person festival returned, bigger and better than ever!
Today, Scott is committed to growing Great Lakes Bay Pride, both in terms of staff and community involvement. The organization serves a vast region, including Bay, Isabella, Midland, and Saginaw counties. While this presents challenges, Scott thrives on supporting the diverse communities within the region.
With a small but dedicated team, Scott relies on volunteers to help make Great Lakes Bay Pride's events and programs a success. If you're interested in getting involved, visit their website to learn more.
Outside of his work with Great Lakes Bay Pride, Scott enjoys exploring Michigan, trying new restaurants, and golfing. He's also an active member of various community boards, including the Saginaw Community Foundation Board.
