Jason Wolverton

Get to know Jason Wolverton, the 2025 Alumni Board President, a little better. Jason is a two-time SVSU alumni, graduating in 2007 with a Creative Writing degree, and again in 2014 with an MBA. He is currently the Marketing Operations Director at WorkJam. We asked Jason some questions about SVSU, and here is what he had to say,

Why did you want to join the SVSU Alumni Board?

SVSU made such a big difference in my life, I wanted a chance to give back. It's great to maintain a connection to the university, students, and staff.

What was your favorite part about SVSU now?

My favorite part is the energy you feel in the air every time you're on campus. It's a unique experience when you're around so many students who have big dreams and are at such a transformative point in their lives. You can feel that buzz still even decades after you graduate.

What piece of advice would you give to current SVSU students?

Don't be afraid to put yourself out there and try new experiences. Meet new people, join new organizations, and get involved.

How did SVSU inspire you?

The faculty and staff were the biggest inspiration. I had so many mentors who encouraged me, provided advice and support, and who saw the potential in me even before I did.

How has your experience at SVSU helped you set an example for others in your field?

It helped me with a sense of community. SVSU is a place where people know your name and look out for you. I've tried to instill that same mindset into my field wherever I've worked. No matter the job, almost everything comes down to your attitude and how your treat people. SVSU reinforced that.

What are you most proud of?

My friends and family. I'm fortunate to have a lot of people in my life who I care about and who care about me. Their successes are mine and vice versa.

What is something fun that you do in your leisure time?

Golf, read, relax, work out

What is your favorite book or movie genre?

I'm a big Stephen King fan. I've read almost everything he's written

What sports team(s) do you root for?

I'm a big Detroit sports fan. I'm a Lions season ticket holder, but my heart will always belong to the Tigers

If you could see anyone in concert (dead or alive) who would it be?

Eminem

If you could only eat one food the rest of your life, what would it be?

Cheeseburgers
