Jamie Loubert

February 2025

Jamie Loubert, class of 2017

Jamie knew that she wanted to pursue a Graphic Design degree before she stepped foot on campus. She had always been artsy, and when she learned about graphic design in high school, she knew that was the path for her. Her plan coming into SVSU was to use her degree to design logos, branding, and print advertising.

During her time at SVSU, Jamie’s perspective on graphic design broadened significantly. A standout moment was her course with Professor Blake Johnson, where she dove into interface and user experience design. Joining the inaugural year of the SVSU Cardinal Solutions program under his guidance, Jamie started to explore areas of the profession she hadn’t considered before. Although these topics didn’t catch her attention at first, they would later play a crucial role in her career.

After her 2017 graduation, Jamie began working with various small businesses, focusing on the logos and branding she had always dreamed of creating. But soon, she found herself feeling unfulfilled. It became clear that she wanted to seek out new career possibilities. That’s when she benefited from her SVSU connections. Brittany Schoenow, a fellow alum and friend from the Graphic Design program, reached out with an opportunity at Hungry Howie’s, where she had previously worked. Intrigued, Jamie applied and has been thriving there since 2018!

Now, Jamie is a Senior Analyst, Customer Experience & User Experience at Hungry Howie’s Pizza. Her work revolves around user interface and user experience—areas she hadn’t fully appreciated during her college years. She relishes the chance to blend design with technology, showcasing the exciting potential for graphic design as tech continues to grow. Jamie collaborates with her team to enhance Hungry Howie’s website and mobile app, taking pride in their reach of over 12 million visitors each year.

Reflecting on her time at SVSU, Jamie emphasizes the importance of building and nurturing connections. The relationships she developed at college have opened doors long after graduation, including her current role at Hungry Howie’s. Jamie flourished during her studies and carried that growth into a job she truly loves. Her advice for current SVSU students? Cultivate those connections—they can lead to incredible opportunities!
