Interpreting Services

Students who are deaf or hard of hearing may request Interpreter Services. This accommodation applies only to the classroom and the request must be made as soon as the student has registered for classes or at least 6 weeks in advance of the start of the semester.

Students needing these services should speak with their professors prior to the start of the semester to discuss the use of interpreting services. As well, students are responsible for their own course material. The interpreter is not responsible for retaining or repeating any information presented in the classroom.

Those students requiring this accommodation must contact the ARA office 48 hours in advance if they find they will be absent from a class. If the student is absent for two classes during the semester and does not inform ARA of their absence, interpreting services will be temporarily suspended. To reinstate this service, the student must meet with an ARA staff member.
