My name is Ron Trepkowski and I want to welcome you to the University Police website. The Saginaw Valley State University Police works in partnership with the entire university community to maintain a safe and secure campus. In addition to traditional police services, our department offers a wide variety of services, such as speaking to student groups and coordinating crime prevention efforts. We hope this webpage is useful in providing more detailed information on campus safety and the services we provide.

I have worked for the University Police Department since 1983. Prior to joining the department I was employed at Bay Regional Medical Center as a Security Officer. I was also a member of the Bay City Police Reserves as Deputy Chief.

I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in 1983, and a Master’s Degree in 1993, both from S.V.S.U. I teach women's self defense (RAD) class as a credit class and as a seminar class. I was the first certified RAD instructor in the State of Michigan and have been teaching RAD since 1994. I hold numerous training and advanced training certificates in various police related areas. I am the University Police firearms instructor and have participated in pistol competitions in the State.

My primary responsibilities include supervising the day shift patrol and detective. I coordinate special events and one of many Crime Scene Technicians.

My motto is, “Law Enforcement through Education”.

I began my career as a police officer with SVSU in January, 2008. Prior to that I was with the Bay City Police Department for 25 years and retired as Deputy Chief of Police. I consider it a privilege to work with, and for the students, staff and faculty of SVSU as my second career.

I received an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Delta College in 1982 and was hired by the Bay City Police Department in 1983. I am a graduate of the Northeastern Police Academy. I received a Bachelor of Applied Science in Criminal Justice from Siena Heights University in 2007 and was recently admitted into the Master of Master of Administration Sciences (MAS) at SVSU 2008.

I currently serve as the Board of Directors President of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bay County. I am also a Board of Directors member of the East Shoreline Chapter of the American Red Cross and and active member of the Bay City Lions Club. I have been married to my wife, Sue, for 22 years. We have a 17 year old son and a 15 year old daughter.

I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Ferris State University in 1999. I earned my Master of Arts degree in Administrative Science from SVSU in 2008. Prior to joining the SVSU Police Department in 2002, I gained prior police experience with the Bay City and Gaylord Police Departments.

I am currently the department detective. I am responsible for working in-depth investigations where a large amount of follow up and interviews are necessary. I am the court liaison officer, where I ensure criminal cases are submitted to the prosecutor in a timely manner and warrants are obtained. I occasionally work road patrol and fill in as needed at special events on campus. I am also certified as a Child Passenger Safety Technician, Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Instructor, and Field Training Officer (FTO).
I am excited to be a part of a progressive, respected institution such as SVSU. I enjoy the campus atmosphere and meeting new people. I currently work the day shift.

I started working for the department in the fall of 2005. I have an additional 3 years of law enforcement experience that I gained working for the Tittabawassee Township Police Department.

I graduated from Northeastern Police Academy, and also received my Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Delta College in 2003. I am currently working on obtaining my Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice here at SVSU.

I graduated from Saginaw Valley State University in 2004 with a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice and a minor in Public Administration. I graduated the 75th class of the Northeastern Police Academy in 2004 as well. Prior to being hired at SVSU, I gained two years experience with the St. Louis Police Department.

I am a certified Evidence Technician, Field Training Officer (FTO) and the TASER instructor for University Police. I also teach Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) classes in the Basic and Advance courses.

I started working for the department in the spring of 2007. I graduated from Saginaw Valley State University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice. While enrolled at SVSU I also was a five year participant on the Cardinal football team.

I have worked in law enforcement for the Harbor Beach Police Department, and also was a volunteer Fire-Fighter with the Saginaw Township Fire Department until 2006.

I graduated from Saginaw Valley State University in 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Finance. In May of 2007, I graduated from the Delta College Police Academy, earning the MCOLES outstanding performance award. I gained experience as a part time officer working for the St. Louis Police Department and Lakeview Police Department in 2007. I have been a full time police officer with Saginaw Valley State University Police Department since September 2008.

I am a certified Defensive Tactics Instructor, GAGE Instructor, Spontanious Knife Defense Instructor, and O.C. Spray Instructor.

I graduated from Ferris State University in 2001 with a Bachelors in Public Relations. I graduated from the Flint Regional Police Training Academy in November 2003.

I was hired by SVSU in February, 2010. I am proud to be employed by a rapidly developing University and Police Department. Prior to joining SVSU I was a Cavalry Scout in the Army for 5 years, proudly serving in Iraq from November 2005 to November 2006.

I was a former student employee with the University Police. I graduated in December, 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice. I also graduated from Delta College Police Academy in December of 2008. I am proud to be employed by the University. Saginaw Valley has given so much to me, now it's my turn to give back.

My career at SVSU began in the Controller’s Office in 1985 as a Senior Accounting Clerk. I have been a staff member of the University Police since 1986.

I manage the department’s capital equipment and facilities, human resources functions, special projects, payroll, budgets and accounts, evidence and property, technology and webpages administration.

I am also the compliance officer for the Department of Education and Clery Act crime statistic requirements and Freedom of Information requests.
I attained a Master of Arts, Bachelor of Business Administration, and Associate in Computer Science degrees.

I have been with SVSU University Police in Parking Services since 1986. The university has grown considerably over the last 20+ years from 3500 to nearly 10,000 enrolled students and 500 to 2500 on-campus residents. The responsibilities as Parking & Student Employment Services Coordinator has grown as has the university. I coordinate and train employees in the area of police dispatch, citation and permit computer software and hear on-campus appeals before the violation would be forwarded to the 70th District Court in Saginaw County. I feel fortunate to supervise 20 conscientious student employees who are a necessity and an asset to the overall operation of the department. Many of them are pursuing a career in the criminal justice field.

I began working for the SVSU Police Department in the fall of 2006 as a student employee. I became a regular part-time dispatcher in the summer of 2008.

I am currently working towards receiving my Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.), majoring in International Business at SVSU. I will obtain my degree in the summer of 2009.

My duties include police dispatching, issuing permits, and handling citation payments, along with several other duties.

I started with SVSU in the summer of 2008. I am from the Upper Peninsula-yes, a Yooper. I graduated from Northern Michigan University where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in psychology. I then moved to Detroit where I started with the Auburn Hills Police Department. I was a Police Service Officer for 7 years. I was a 911 Operator and a L.E.I.N. Operator, as well as doing non-criminal duties on the road. I worked many events at the Palace in Auburn Hills conducting traffic and parking enforcement. I left Auburn Hills to relocate north with my family. I have two young sons and we enjoy sports, as well as taking care of horses. I am happy to be involved in police work again and am here to serve the community of SVSU.

I joined the Saginaw Valley State University Police Department in August of 2008 as a student dispatcher. I progressed through my four years of schooling to be a student service officer in tandem with dispatching. Upon receiving my Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, I left the University for a short period before being rehired as a permanent part-time dispatcher. My duties include police dispatching, issuing permits, and handling citation payments, along with several other duties.
