The Living Leadership Program is a competitive program that selects 30 incoming freshmen students a year.  Living Leadership is designed to provide freshmen a community where leadership is the true focus.  Students chosen to participate in the program live and learn together in a required residential community on campus.  Themes for Living Leadership include “emerging leadership” (freshman year) and “mentorship” (second year). This program is about personal growth and becoming a person who has the confidence and ability to lead, exploring and discovering new opportunities, appreciating the value of giving back to the community and creating a network of friends and contacts that last a lifetime.

As a Living Leader, you will experience:

  • Living in a community of like-minded students focused on leadership development and active engagement on campus
  • Participation in on campus organizations
  • Attendance at leadership conferences
  • A leadership book read
  • Community service opportunities

Additionally, the Living Leadership Program offers:

  • Mentoring opportunities with current SVSU upperclassmen “Living Leaders”
  • Social events and continued leadership development opportunities through your second year
  • A Leadership Kickstart Camp:  a preview opportunity to meet current leaders and network with other members of the program

Application criteria:

  • Graduating high school senior
    • Minimum 2.50 cumulative high school GPA
    • Demonstrated leadership and service in your school and/or community
    • Potential for advanced leadership development
    • Be admitted to the university

 

To apply for the Living Leadership Program:

  • Submit your application for admission to the University the SVSU Office of Admissions
  • Once admitted to the university, qualified students will automatically be sent an invitation to apply for the Living Leadership Program
  • Selection is competitive
