Strategic Plan Open Forums This Week

Two open forums have been scheduled for faculty, staff and students to offer input on a draft of the latest version of the university’s strategic plan. The first will be Wednesday, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Curtiss Hall seminar rooms, and Thursday, Oct. 25 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Emeriti Room. 

New Members Join SVSU Foundation Board

The SVSU Foundation recently welcomed five new members to its board of directors in preparation for the 50th anniversary fundraising campaign. They are:

  • Jim Barcia, retired Michigan and U.S. legislator and SVSU alumnus
  • Rick Goedert, president and CEO of 1st State Bank in Saginaw
  • John Kessler, executive vice president and senior trust officer for Chemical Bank
  • Kim Norris, vice president for administration for Glastender, Inc. and SVSU alumna
  • Vicki Rupp, global director of the business process services center for The Dow Chemical Company and SVSU alumna

These five join other dedicated friends who serve without compensation to raise private support for the university. If you see them, please thank them for their service. A full list of those who serve on the board can be found on the Foundation Website

Writer Robert Edsel Gives O’Neill Lecture Thursday

In the ninth annual James E. O'Neill Jr. Memorial Lecture, writer Robert Edsel will tell the story of the Monuments Men, a group of museum directors, curators, art scholars and educators who chased down the art stolen by Nazis during World War II and saved it from ultimate destruction. [ more... ]

Athletic Teams Advancing to Post-season Play

  • Our men’s and women’s cross country teams ran well Saturday at the GLIAC championships and qualified to run in the NCAA regional meet in Kenosha, Wisc. Saturday, Nov. 3.
  • Our soccer teams also are playing well. With two wins last weekend, the men’s soccer team sits in first place in the conference with one match to play. Women’s soccer sits in third place overall with two matches remaining this weekend.
  • The women’s tennis team qualified for the GLIAC tennis tournament and will compete in Midland this weekend.
  • Football is one game back in the GLIAC north standings with three games to play.
