Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, Trumpet at U of M’s Hill Auditorium (25)
Performing music that links today’s improvisers with the rich history of traditional and contemporary big-band composition, Wynton Marsalis’s Jazz at Lincoln Center
Orchestra will bring an expansive range of music to the stage. Marsalis was born in New Orleans in 1961. At age 17, he was the youngest musician to be admitted to Tangle
wood’s Berkshire Music Center. He assembled his own band in 1981 and in 1987 he co-founded a jazz program at Lincoln Center. The winner of nine Grammy awards, in 1983 he became the only artist to win Grammy Awards for both jazz and classical records. Prior to the 4 p.m. concert, you’ll enjoy a buffet luncheon at the Cottage Inn in downtown Ann Arbor. Our package includes main floor seats to the concert, lunch and motorcoach transportation from SVSU.
