Some private loans are available for international students. Many times, loans are available directly from your home country for the purpose of studying at a university in another country. Please check with financial institutions in your home country for this information.
International students are not required to submit ACT or SAT scores for admission to the university. Submission of ACT or SAT scores may be required for student-athletes.
Most graduate degree programs do not require GRE or GMAT. However, certain programs require the GMAT or GRE for admission. Under special circumstances the GMAT or GRE may be waived. For more information contact the program coordinator (contact information below).

The application process varies depending on whether you are apply as an English Language Program only student, Undergraduate (Bachelor's degree) student, or a Graduate (Master's degree or Doctorate) student. Please click the appropriate link below for a PDF of the process.
English Language Program or Undergraduate:
Application arrives to SVSU and is entered into our database.
Application fee is processed.
Supporting documents are entered into our database as they arrive.
Verification of supporting documents.
Admission decision is made.
If admitted, student's I-20, acceptance letter, and admission packet is mailed via UPS to the student's preferred mailing address.
Once you are admitted to a program at Saginaw Valley State University, your I-20 and acceptance letter will be mailed directly to the mailing address listed on your application.

The Office of International & Advanced Studies serves as the official center for international students. Previously known as the Office of International Programs, it serves all international students - ELP, undergraduate, and graduate students as well as visiting and guest scholars.
Bank statements must be dated within 12 months of your enrollment date at Saginaw Valley State University. SVSU may accept official bank statements or an official bank letter from your bank. It must carry an official signature and stamp from a bank official.
If the account holder is not the student applicant (example - a sponsor or a family member), the affidavit of financial support on the student's application must identify the account holder as an official sponsor of the student.
To allow another person to inquire about your application status or pick up admission paperwork, please complete the Personal Information Release Form (75kB) and return it to the Office of International Admissions in Wickes Hall 160, email to firstname.lastname@example.org or fax it to +1-989-964-2788.
The nonrefundable $150 USD orientation fee should be paid within 30 days of admission. After your orientation fee payment has been received, our office will process your I-20 and send it with your admission packet.
