National Society of Leadership and Success

SVSU is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS). Our chapter is open by invitation only to selected students who have demonstrated academic accomplishment and leadership potential. Chosen students who meet set criteria will be issued a nomination letter at the beginning of the fall and winter semesters. The society offers life-changing lectures from the nation's leading presenters along with a community where like-minded, success-oriented individuals come together to help one another succeed.

Students receive a wide range of lifetime benefits upon being inducted into the society. Benefits include scholarship and award opportunities, resume enhancement, access to previous speaker broadcasts, discounts from corporate partners and a personalized letter of recommendation. Members pay a one-time registration fee of $85 which includes a lifetime membership upon being inducted. Inductions will be held in April each academic year.

Members are able to engage in social events, community service opportunities and other leadership development activities through their involvement with NSLS. In 2014, our chapter was named Chapter of the Year.

Fraternity & Sorority Life

A fraternity or sorority is a brotherhood or sisterhood that consists of members that hold similar values and form a group around common goals and aspirations. Like family, these men and women make a commitment to each other for life, with the intent to support each other, hold each other accountable, inspire each other to be better and to be there as friends as they learn, grow and develop together.  Fraternities and sororities are also referred to as “Greek organizations," due to their chapter’s unique Greek lettering that serves as a reminder of the group’s core values. The first “Greek” organization was founded in 1776 when students realized the need to discuss events out of the classroom, which has since taken on a broader role to develop leadership and social skills connecting experiences back to moral ethics and values.
