The following financial resources are available to students enrolled in a program in the College of Health & Human Services. Generally, awards are determined by the Dean's and/or Financial Aid Office in May/June for the following year; depending on resource availability, exceptions may be made to accommodate new student admission dates.
Don and Iva Bellinger Scholarship - Available to undergraduate students (pre-nursing, admitted to nursing, and RN) as well as graduate students on a limited basis. The pre-nursing awards are determined by the SVSU Admissions Office; all others are determined by the Department of Nursing in collaboration with the Financial Aid Office. Although full time student status is preferred, an award for part-time study is possible. Awards generally vary from approximately $500 to $3,000 and are renewable providing University standards for achievement are met; however, renewal is not automatic, so it requires a new application annually. Need is determined primarily by federal standards; therefore, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form from the Financial Aid Office must be completed in addition to the scholarship application.
Kakarla-Maganti Scholarship - Available to undergraduate students admitted to nursing and enrolled in full-time study. Generally, two $1,500 awards are provided annually and are renewable, providing achievement standards are met.
Ann L. Wintermyer Memorial Endowed Nursing Scholarship - Available to undergraduate students admitted to nursing and enrolled in full-time study with a GPA of 3.0. Generally, a minimum of two $1,000 awards are provided annually.
Barbara Ann Divine Endowed Nursing Scholarship - Available to undergraduate students admitted to nursing and enrolled in full-time study with a GPA of 3.0. One award of $500 is given annually.
For achievement-based scholarships, students will be considered based on the information supplied on the General Scholarship Application form completed at www.svsu.edu/scholarships. Also, for achievement-based resources, although need is not a criterion for determining award, a student's financial package is reviewed; therefore, completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form in the Financial Aid Office is recommended.
The SVSU Health Professional Alumni Endowed Scholarship - Available to returning undergraduate students who are full-time, have junior or senior class standing (at least 62 credits completed), have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, and are pursuing a major in the College of Health and Human Services or a major in the College of Science, Engineering and Technology designed for preparation for entry into dental or medical school.
