Why not create opportunities to bring the two together? That is why the Department of Music at SVSU offers several outreach opportunities to area schools and high school students.
Talented SVSU music and music education majors will visit area high schools and work with student in those music programs. Please contact Prof. Kevin Simons for more information.
As part of the Department of Music's outreach, it offers select clinics including the choral clinic (ran by Prof. Kevin Simons) and jazz clinic (ran by Prof. Jeff Hall).
Valley Steel is an organization that includes two steel bands: one for students and one for adult community members. The student group had a successful first performance in April 2013 and we look forward to the launch of the adult group in Fall 2013. Please contact Dr. Brandon Haskett for more information.
