Freshman Applicants

Step 1: Apply to SVSU

Before you can apply for on-campus housing at Saginaw Valley State University, you must be admitted to the University. If you have not applied and been admitted to the University, please visit: www.svsu.edu/apply . Undergraduate Canadian students will coordinate their orientation and housing through the Undergraduate Admissions Office. New international students will always coordinate their orientation and housing with the Office of International Programs.

Step 2: Reserve Orientation Spot

All new students must complete an orientation (SOAR for freshmen/TOP for transfer students) whether you are a new freshman or new transfer.  (New international students will coordinate orientation details with the Office of International Programs). The early orientation dates afford students the most choices in class registration! You may still apply for housing as long as you have made a reservation for your orientation.

Step 3: Complete Housing Application and Prepayment

Submit housing application and contract materials along with a $200 prepayment. Please make sure you have enough financing to cover the Contract as you are entering into a binding legal contract with the University as long as you are enrolled. You can verify your financial details on your award letter that is generated by filing your FAFSA.  Feel free to print off the forms below for convenience and mail the Housing Application (front/back) and Contract (front/back) along with your $200 prepayment.
