ChipmanStu Chipman


‌Stu, a 2011 graduate with sociology and Spanish double majors and philosophy and political science minors, is one of those students who took advantage of every opportunity available to get involved at SVSU.   Stu created the “Amazing Race” fundraising event for Relay for Life that was named “Program of the Year.”  By the end of his freshman year, Stu had won the “rising leader” award for new students and never looked back.  While at SVSU, Stu participated in a faculty-led study abroad trip on the subject of sustainable agriculture to El Salvador, did a summer internship with the Sierra Club in California, and was involved in urban agriculture work and growing food through hydroponics. 

At SVSU, Stu was:

  • A member of the Foundation Scholars Program
  • Valley Vanguard (student newspaper) writer
  • Writing Center tutor
  • Resident Assistant
  • Program director for the Southeast Community Council
  • Relay for Life participant
  • President of the National Residence Hall Honorary Society
  • Presented at the East Central Writing Centers Association conference

Stu studied law at the University of Michigan, interning for Schiff-Hardin LLP in Chicago and the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.

Today, he specializes in many different areas of law, including: civil litigation, antitrust law, sports law and recreational liability and employment and workplace discrimination.
