Please review the International Student Handbook (2,478kB). This will guide you toward a successful experience as a student at SVSU.
The ELP offers free tutoring for students. The tutors are qualified ESL instructors. The tutoring room is in W278. Some students only go to the tutor when if they need help on a specific assignment. Others make an appointment at the same time every day or every week for extra practice and help with English. Tutors are there to help in whatever way the students need. Hours for tutoring are posted outside the room every semester. If you have any questions about tutoring, please ask your instructor or stop into Wickes 250.
A C-pod is a small group of both international and domestic students that gets together on or off campus to spend time together and talk to each other. This is a great way for second language learners to improve their conversational English and make connections with other people on campus. It also offers both international and domestic students a chance to learn about each other and other cultures. Because the success of the Pod depends on everyone coming and joining in conversation, we ask that students who are interested sign up to be involved for a whole semester and be serious about keeping their commitment to the group. Join the Facebook group “ELP Conversation Pods” for updates or ask for more information at the front desk of Wickes 250.
