Procedures for Requesting Services
Students must self-identify and provide adequate documentation of the disability. After an initial meeting and reviewing the documentation, the director will discuss with the student the services she or he is eligible to receive.
Request for regular classroom services should be made three weeks in advance. Requests for Braille, sign language interpreters, and other services contracted out must be made at least six weeks in advance. Requests for books in electronic format and captions on videos should be made 3 months ahead of time.
The Office of Disability Services will provide most students with a letter indicating which auxiliary aids and services the student is eligible to receive. The student takes the letter and meets with faculty to discuss how these can best be obtained.
Individuals may file complaints on matters related to disabilities. Initial contact should be made with the office of Disability Services, Wickes Hall 260, just down the hall from Career Services.
