SVSU's Teacher Education Program prepares teacher candidates to teach K-12. Our programs mix field experiences with academic courses to ensure you are prepared to teach the next generation. Choose from elementary education (grades K-8), secondary education (grades 6-8 or K-12 in some areas), or special education.
For those who want to teach grades K-8. Teacher candidates also have the opportunity to specialize in Early Childhood education to teach children years birth to 8.
For those who want to teach grades 6-12. Also includes K-12 certification in Visual Arts Education, Music Education, Physical Education, Spanish, and French Education.
For those interested in teaching students who are eligible to receive special education services in the areas of autism spectrum disorder, cognitive impairment, and/or learning disability. Teacher candidates will major in Special Education at the elementary or secondary level.
Already have your bachelor's degree and now want to teach? SVSU offers two options for you to become certified.
