Soccer, tennis under way; flag football set to begin tomorrow
September 26, 2005 —
Teams in the intramural outdoor soccer and tennis leagues have been playing for two weeks now. This next month, however, is when most of the sports will begin to heat up.
Friday is the final week of soccer's regular season, and the playoffs will be held on Oct. 7. Games are played at the intramural football fields on the west side of campus.
Tennis will be wrapping up its season next week as well, as the final regular season games are scheduled for Oct. 3.
Flag football, also played on the intramural fields, will be starting tomorrow. Played on both Tuesdays and Thursdays, the league is male-only. Women get their chance to play in the Powderpuff tournament, which will be held on Sunday, Oct. 2.
In addition, a co-ed softball tournament was held this past weekend at the varsity softball field. The championship game was scheduled for noon on Sunday; results were not available at press time.
There has also been talk within the Campus Recreation office of a residence hall tournament to be held in January. The event is tentatively scheduled to be modeled after the Olympics.
