Preventing overlapping events requires awareness, cooperation between student organizations

Alex Baumgardner's article about the overlapping of Program Board's Coffee House event and Cardinal Sins' Slamoramaglamajama makes a good point about student organizations: we need to communicate better.
Cardinal Sins had been planning the Slam for several months, but did not know about the Coffee House event until days before.
Had either organization been aware of the other's event ahead of time, we surely would have found a way to work together.
Somehow, student organizations need to be more aware of each other. This lack of communication is something Student Association, Student Life, and all the registered student organizations need to think about and remedy.
Despite the scheduling conflict, the events were successful and brought much needed entertainment to campus.
The unfortunate overlap between them should not overshadow the hard work of either organization or the positive impact of the events.
I hope student organizations can find ways to work together and continue improving campus life.
