What is Alternative Breaks?

Alternative Breaks is a 6 year old student lead extension of the Student Life Center at Saginaw Valley State University which offers alcohol and drug free 'alternative' service opportunities to students.

These opportunities face social issues head on by way of a three-part educational model established by our national parent organization Break Away. This model provides participants with educational and life-changing experiences in domestic and international locations.

This years set of social issues includes, but is not limited to:

- Cultural Awareness
- Environment
- Native American Issues
- Poverty
- Health & Wellness
- Children Related Issues
- At-Risk-Youth
