Campus Recreation Special Events

Welcome Weekend

  • During the first weekend before classes start, Campus Recreation teams up with the rest of campus to plan events for the students of SVSU. Some of these events include: a Basketball shoot-out, Yoga in the Yien Garden, Campus-wide Amazing Race, Tent Set-up contest, meet the gym tours, and "Fun Run." 

9/11 Heroes Run 5K

  • For the second year in a row, SVSU is proud to host the 9/11 Heroes Run. This event raises money and awareness for the Travis Manion Foundation, honoring the sacrifices made by former and current millitary and first responders. The Heroes Run hosted by Saginaw Valley State University will be held on campus, Saturday, September 6th. Click here for more information. 

 Free Rec Events

  • Free recreational events provide students with the opportunity to try different fitness, wellness, and sports related activities that they wouldn’t normally try.  These events allow students to try something new and have fun.

Weight Loss Challenge (319kB)

  • Grab some friends and team up with Campus Recreation to motivate you to reach your fitness goals.  Free to enter and much to win. 

Freshmen Wilderness Experience (1,924kB)

  • The Freshman Wilderness Experience is a FREE overnight program for incoming freshman to better prepare themselves for the upcoming year.   This overnight canoeing and camping trip will teach students many valuable outdoor skills and introduce them to the world of outdoor recreation

Fit Into College‌

  • “Fit into College” is a FREE year long program specifically designed for incoming freshmen to learn the value, fun, and simplicity of leading a healthy lifestyle. Join Campus Recreation in helping you “fit into college” the healthy way!
