Nearly one-million-acre Huron-Manistee National Forest awaits!

The trail, with its steep slopes and sharp turns, meanders through native hardwoods and pines as it follows the east shore of the Manistee River for 10 miles through rolling hills.  The trail

traverses several wetlands and a waterfall near the northern end of the trail. The Manistee River Trail/North Country National Scenic Trail connector on the north end of the trail is also the site of the largest wooden suspension bridge in Lower Michigan.

*Backcountry hiking is camping without making use of tent sites previously designated by the landowner.
*Pack in, pack out - "Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints."
