How would tutoring help me?
The Center for Academic Achievement offers peer tutoring services hosted by a team of highly capable student mentors to help you learn how to learn. These tutors have taken the classes you’re taking now and can give you specialized tips and tools to help you succeed academically. From Chemistry to Business, and for just about any 100-200 level General Studies course, the CAA’s Peer Tutors offer guidance like study habits, reading strategies, time-management and test taking skills.
Our tutors are excited to connect with you and give you the resources you need to thrive as an SVSU student. At the CAA, we value active and collaborative learning that continues to help you grow even after you leave the center. There’s always more to learn-- Chances are we’ll learn something from you, too!

General Tutoring
We offer help with almost any 100-200 level course in general education or the humanities, including Communication, Computer Science, History, Geography, Political Science, and Psychology to name a few! Peer tutors help students improve their understanding of course material, study habits, reading strategies, time management and test-taking skills. Tutors can also meet with international students for conversational English.
Accounting, Economics, & Business Tutoring
Supported courses include ACCT 213/214, ECON 125, 221, 222, 225, 335 and FIN 304. Our peer tutors have taken these courses and know what it takes to succeed. Many of these courses have an embedded tutor who regularly hosts group study sessions.
Biology & Chemistry Tutoring
We support 100-200 level biology and chemistry courses including Anatomy and Physiology and Organic Chemistry. Our peer tutors have taken these classes, understand the course material, and know what it takes to succeed. Experienced tutors can break down complicated concepts and share advice on how to study effectively for these challenging courses. Many of these courses also have an embedded tutor who hosts regular study and exam review sessions.
